If you like rich, exotic scents then you must get your hands on Faraway Gold, Avon's latest perfume. It is an oriental floral fragrance and features peach, orange, jasmine, vanilla, ylang-ylang, amber and coconut notes. I received the perfume about a week back and I've been wearing it everyday since then which says how much I'm loving it.

Avon is a brand that I really like and their products suit my skin very well. I've been trying the new cream and mask for quite some time now and I must say that both have really impressed me.

Avon Naturals HERBAL Glowing Moisturizing Cream

In winter, my skin tends to become really dry so I need a cream that keeps my skin hydrated for a long time but does not make it greasy and shiny. This moisturizing cream does all that! The texture of the cream is light, it smells refreshing, applies evenly, does not clog pores, gets absorbed into the skin quite fast and because one of the ingredients is neem, also prevents pimples from coming up. Usually, one would not think that a neem based cream would be suitable for dry skin, but this one is just great for me. The hydration lasts for nearly 5-6 hours and it does not irritate skin. So, a safe bet for all skin types!

Avon Naturals HERBAL Glowing Moisturizing Mask

Love this mask! It's a clay mask but the texture is not very heavy. Again, I love the light neem smell and after washing off, the skin looks really refreshed and clean. I've used it a lot during winter and it did not dry out or irritate my skin at all. So a product suitable for all skin types. I did not see my skin 'glowing' after using the mask but I like the squeaky clean feeling it gives. 

Both products are priced at Rs 249 for 50 gms and i think they are great value for money. They are not completely free of chemicals but contain products good for the skin. Try them out if you are looking out for an affordable face cream and mask.

Sunday Brunch Look

• To get the look right, it is essential to use compact or loose powder to set the foundation and control oil

Avon Little Gold Dress Perfume - Review

When it comes to perfumes, I really like the ones that Avon comes out with. A couple of years back I tried the famous Little Black Dress and absolutely loved it. Seeing the popularity of  LBD, other variants like The Little Red Dress and Little White Dress were launched subsequently and this month, it's the turn of Little Gold Dress to make an appearance.  

The perfume is described as a fruity floral oriental spray that opens with a bright burst of citrus from Clementine and luscious notes of Peach juice and purple plum. Honestly, I have no idea what Clementine and purple plum smells like but the perfume sure smells great!. I am usually not a fan of too floral or too fruity fragrances but I like that there is a blend of the two in this one. At the first whiff, the smell was too strong and synthetic but once it settled down, I liked how well balanced and elegant it was. Not too sugary, too strong, or too heavy but nice, clean, sparkling and yet sensual. I cannot really classify it as either a day or a night perfume because one can wear it anytime of the day. It's really that versatile and that is what I like. 

Even though I like the smell of the perfume, I'm not a fan of the packaging and bottle. Perfumes to me should look pretty and luxurious but this one is way too plain. Yes it's gold and there is glitter on the lid but it's too simple for my liking. Wish Avon had jazzed up the bottle slightly. The staying power of The Little Gold Dress is quite decent. On me, it lasts for about 3-4 hours. 

The Little Gold Dress is available from October onwards through Avon representatives and priced at Rs 1199. If you are a fan of floral and fruity fragrances that are not sweet or heavy, you will like this. I sure do!

Avon Totally Kissable Lipstick Loving Lilac - Review, Swatches

Avon does not need me to rave about it's new Totally Kissable lipsticks coz they definitely know how good these are but I shall anyway. I'm talking about the shade Loving Lilac and I'm really blown away by how smooth and creamy it is. Avon has always been one of my favorite brands because of their reasonable prices, excellent quality and a wide variety of products and shades. What I like the most are their lipstick formulas and there are so many to choose from. So wish that these were available in stores rather than through representatives but then that's what direct selling is all about. 

Early this year, Avon launched the Vitaluscious lipsticks and now we have the new Totally Kissable lipsticks in 10 shades to choose from. This is what Avon's celebrity makeup artist Neha Khanna has to say about this new range:

"Totally Kissable lipstick renders intense bright color that goes perfect with our skin tone and also gives softer, smoother, kiss ready lips. Lips look color rich with petal soft feel". And these are the active ingredients of the lipstick:

• Unique blend of avocado and coconut oils help condition for smoothness
• Fruit enzymes work on the surface of lips leaving them visibly smooth
• Contains SPF 15

So you get the basic picture right? These lipsticks are really good! Much better than the formula and texture of lipsticks from many popular and high end brands. The shade I have is Loving Lilac, a pretty mix of lilac and fuchsia with a hint of shimmer. The lipstick has a creamy, almost balm like texture with a glossy finish and this color should look good on pretty much all skin tones.

This is the only Totally Kissable lipstick I have so not sure if the others are the same but Loving Lilac does go on slightly sheer on the first application so it's not like a burst of color at the first go. But it is easily built up for more opaque coverage. I also like that the shimmer is not too prominent. Since this is a moisturising lipstick, the wear time is not as much as say a matte or a semi-matte but I get a decent three to four hours without fading or bleeding. What I love most is that the my lips stay moisturized till the color goes away. So all you pretties with dry lips, you can close your eyes and buy one of these!

I highly recommend the Avon Totally Kissable lipstick range for its wonderful smooth and creamy formula at a very reasonable price. It's treatment plus color for the lips all in one :). Plus they look very good too!

Avon Ultra Color Rich Vitaluscious Lipstick in Reviving Red - Review, Swatches

Sometime back I was invited by Avon to attend the launch of their new range of Ultra Color Rich Vitaluscious Lipsticks in Kolkata. Along with the launch, Avon also introduced Neha Khanna, the new Creative Color Director who spoke about these lipsticks and also performed a makeover on one of the models. I was given a sample to try and most of you must have seen the picture on my Facebook page. I've been using the lipstick for some time now but refrained from putting up the review since it was still not out for sale. Now that Avon has officially launched these lipsticks in their newest catalog, here I am to share my thoughts on the new Ultra Color Rich Vitaluscious Lipstick in the shade Reviving Red.

The Vitaluscious lipsticks are available in six shades that are perfectly suited for the Indian skin tone. This is what Avon has to say about this range:

• Enriched with Vitamins B, C and E MoistureSpheres
• Provides hydration, softness and protection like a lip balm
• Contains nourishing oils like almond, jojoba and lavender
• Has SPF 15

The look of the lipstick is the same as that of the Color Rich range, a shiny black lipstick case with a silver band in the middle. The only addition is that vitaluscious is printed on the lower half of the case. Now, I'm not a big fan of scented lipsticks and find most of them to be too strong for my liking. But I absolutely love the fruity bubblegummy smell of this one. It's not too strong to attack your olfactory nerves but subtle enough to tease them into craving for something sweet. Many a times, I've found myself reaching out for this lipstick in my drawer just to smell it!. 

Coming to the color, it's a lovely red, not a true red but one with a bit of plum in it. During the day, the color looks red but in the evening specially if there's a lot of light and flash, you can make out the plum. No worries on whether the color would suit particular skin tones or not coz this will look good on everyone. From those who are afraid of wearing a true red on their lips to red lipstick fans, this will be loved by all! Neha Khanna had said that the rich moisture of the lipstick makes the color even richer and I totally vouch for that. The lipstick is extremely pigmented and rich and one swipe is enough to give full coverage and hide lip pigmentation. 

The lipstick applies very well. It just glides on to the lips and you can immediately feel how moisturising this is. The texture is soft and creamy and is a delight to wear. Neither do you need a lip balm nor a lip gloss when you wearing this because it does the work of a balm and looks as shiny as a gloss. It really makes the lips look luscious, shiny and healthy and I love it. The shine however does not stay for long though. It starts to fade away after about an hour of applying but the creaminess is still very much there. 

I've been using this lipstick for quite a while now and I love how it keeps my lips hydrated and soft. And not just while it's on my lips but even after. Because of its creamy texture, there is a problem with transfer though. You will be leaving stains on whatever your lips touches so the best bet is to either layer the color with translucent powder or fill your lips with a lip liner first to create a barrier around the lipstick. It's also not a  long lasting lipstick and the max wear that I can get out of it is 3 hours. No issues with bleeding thankfully.

To sum up, here's what I love about Reviving Red:

• Gives rich intense color
• Keeps lips moisturised as its packed with nutrients
• Makes my lips look luscious and healthy
• One product does the work of both a lip balm and a gloss
• Has SPF 
• Affordable 
• Shade will look good on all skin tones

What I don't like:

• Glossy finish fades after about an hour of aplication
• Transfers
• Does not last for a long time 

Reviving Red is a beautiful shade that one can wear during the day as well as the night. It is packed with rich color and the healthy ingredients work to give me lips that are really "Pout Pretty". Will specially recommend it to all of you with dry lips and even if you don't fall in that category, this is worth trying. If the transfer & short wear time is not an issue, get one for yourself.

Avon Midnight Plum Nails of the Day

I'm currently obsessed with dark colors! That' all that I get attracted to nowadays and its not just makeup believe me! From clothes, to shoes to bags, vampy is very much me!

The color that I'm sporting on my nails now is a rich dark plum rather 'jamoon' to be more apt. I bought this from Avon nearly three months back but wore it for the first time yesterday. Midnight Plum is from the Avon Nailwear Pro+ range of nail polishes, that claims to be of a much better formula than the Nailwear Pro range.  I love the color and the semi-glossy finish of this nail polish and it dries up pretty fast as well. Only problem is that it applies streaky on the nails and takes nearly three coats to go completely opaque. I've been wearing it for a day now and there's no chipping yet. Let's see how long it lasts.

Avon Naturals Coconut Moisturising Body Smoothie - Review, Photos

As I have mentioned earlier, Avon is one of my favorite makeup and skincare brands because their products really suit me and they don't burn a hole in my pockets thankfully!. Most of my shower gels and lotions are from Avon and I specially love the Naturals range for their cute packaging and delicious smells. I recently got the Avon Naturals Coconut Moisturising Body Smoothie as a gift and it's quite a nifty little product. Meant to be used both as a body wash and a shampoo, the first thing that attracted me was the packaging. The thing looks so cute! Dunno if anyone of you have ever been to Keventers in Darjeeling but if you ever land up in Darjeeling, a trip to Keventers is a must for its delicious hot dogs, sandwiches, pastries and yummyy chocolate shake!. Wondering whats the similarity between Keventers and an Avon bottle?? Well, this bottle looks very similar to the glass bottle in which chocolate milk shake is served at Keventers :)..I last went there about 7 yrs back so no idea if those milk shake bottles still exist but somehow was transported to those days after looking at the Coconut smoothie.

Getting back to the review, this is what the product claims to do -  As a body wash, leaves skin feeling soothed, refreshed and rejuvenated. Continual daily use reconditions and softens skin. As a shampoo, conditions hair from root to tip, detangles and helps eliminate flyaways, leaving hair healthy looking, soft and shiny. The bottle has a flip-top cap and a small opening to dispense the product. Apart from the cute packaging, the other thing that you will notice and love is the fragrance. The coconut smell is so delicious! Like the smell you get when you mix coconut and cream together. 

The texture of the product is of medium consistency. Not too thick and not too runny. As a body wash, it lathers pretty well and I love that my shower smells of coconut when I use this. Unfortunately, the smell vanishes pretty fast and does not even last an hour on my skin. They rinse pretty well and what i like is that after using it, my skin does feel soft and smooth even in this weather. I can skip applying a lotion and my skin does not feel tight or dry. 

As a shampoo, I need to use considerably more product and the lather is not as foamy, which is something I don't like and this will be a problem for those with oily hair. The coconut smell on my hair lasts slightly longer than it does on my skin and I'm quite surprised at how well this worked on my hair. I have normal hair and honestly, never expected it to leave my hair so clean and shiny. There were no tangles or even hair fall. For oily hair, it might not work that well though.

The price of the product is Rs 199 as mentioned on the bottle but I'm sure there will be some offers going on where you can buy at a lesser price. This is quite a handy product, perfect for travelling for its size and convenience of combining a body wash and shampoo into one. It works for me and you can give it a try too. Even if it does not work for your hair, you will love it as a body wash.

Avon Absinthe Nails of the Day

Avon is one of my favorite brands for nail polishes and I'm sure you know that by now after all the Avon NOTDs. I love that the polishes are reasonably priced, have a large variety of shades with great texture and finish and with a decent wear time as well. Avon recently launched the Nailwear Pro+ range in three categories - Creme, Shimmer and Sequins. These polishes claim a longer wear time (12 days!), more color, fuller coverage and richer formula. I bought a few of these a couple of months back but somehow never got around wearing the shade Absinthe. No idea why! Tried it on today and I'm quite impressed by the color and the quality.

Absinthe is a sequin finish and the color is a pale green with yellow undertone and golden microshimmer. In the catalog however the color looked much more brighter and that was what got me attracted so I was a teeny bit disappointed. Nevertheless, this looks really pretty too. I loved the texture of the polish. The shimmers are not gritty, went on really smooth, dried within minutes of applying and needed two coats to go opaque. I wore this in the morning and no sign of chipping yet. I can't wear one polish on my nails for 12 days so can't possibly let you know whether the 12 day no chipping claim is true. Do let me know if any of you tried it out.
