Haul Post - My new Eyeshadow Palettes

And thus begins the haul posts...Many of you know that I went to visit my brother's family in Singapore last month and that trip made a major dent to my bank balance! The price of all products in Singapore is very high but I was on a vacation and went all out to get some of the things that I've been wanting for quite some time. In today's post, I'll show you the eye shadow palettes that I got recently that includes two I bought on my trip and one sent to me for review by the Born Pretty store (you can use the code DDH10 to get a 10% discount on your purchase from the site while checking out).

The star of my Singapore haul is definitely Urban Decay's Vice 2 palette. I had actually wanted to get either Naked 1 or 2 but once my eyes laid on Vice 2, it was love at first site. The price at Sephora was 88 SGD which roughly translates to about Rs 4300. Definitely expensive but oh so worth it! I will post the review and swatches soon but here's a first look at the palette.

Urban Decay Vice 2

Second, is the Limited Edition Sephora Enchanting palette which I bought primarily for its outer cover. Some of the colors are quite similar to Vice 2 but have you seen the packaging? That silver shimmer was way too enticing for me not to get. The price was I think around 35SGD (about 1700) and I think it was a good buy at that price. What say?

Lastly, here is the palette sent to me by Born Pretty Store. I have not heard about the brand before but I love the bright shimmery colors. And the pigmentation of these shadows is surprisingly very good. Will review very soon.

So those were the new eye shadow palettes that has gone into my collection. Detailed posts on each of them will be up soon. Which palette did you like the most? Do share in the comments below.

Korean Cosmetics Haul from Jolse.com

I recently discovered a wonderful website to shop Korean beauty products from and I thank Sangeeta of Lipgloss Affairs profusely for mentioning it. The website is http://jolse.com/ and there you can get a wide variety of products from Korean beauty brands like Etude House, Holika Holika, Missha, TonyMoly, Innisfree etc at very reasonable rates.

I have ordered from Jolse twice and there are quite a few reasons for me recommending it to all of you wanting to try Korean products:

1. They have a wide variety of products and brands to choose from
2. They have free standard international shipping (without tracking no) and send stuff via registered post so there is very little chance of the package getting lost. Also, no customs issues
3. They give free samples with every order
4. One can earn points with every order that can be redeemed later
5. They accept debit and credit card payment along with paypal

Now that I have established my love for jolse, lets take a look at what i hauled:

1. Etude House Hot Style Bubble Hair Color

2. Etude House Missing You Hand Cream (Isn't this the cutest packaging ever? Btw it totally smells like Johnson's Baby Lotion :D)

3. Etude House Magic Bubble Peeling Wash - This is like an exfoliator in a foamy texture

4. Holika Holika Pig-nose Clear Blackhead Peeling Massage Gel - This is really good stuff! Takes only a couple of minutes to peel away all the gunk from the nose!

Now the samples

I will be reviewing all these products in a few days time. Which one do you want me to review first? Do share in the comments below.

MAC and Inglot Mini Haul for Diwali

MAC is out with the Indulge collection and the only thing that got me interested was the eye shadow Divine Decadence. I read Temptalia's review of the shade and loved the color a lot so had to get it for myself. Next to the MAC store in Kolkata is Inglot and I went in specifically to get their hottest selling lipstick shade - matte 421. This shade is always out of stock but thankfully this time the SA's did not disappoint. Along with the lipstick, I also got a Color Play mascara in the shade purple. I love experimenting with colored mascaras and the purple one looked so pretty. I've already thought of a green smokey eye look with the purple so will show you that very soon. Meanwhile, take a look at the pics. Separate reviews will be posted soon.

My Chinabuye Haul

Some months back I was given the opportunity to shop for a specified amount from a website Chinabuye.com. I had never heard of it and honestly, was not even sure about the quality of the products. However, the very sweet lady who was interacting with me said "Just take a look once and I'm sure you will love our website". And boy oh boy! Chinabuye.com is like a treasure trove of all kinds of stuff. From electronic goods to watches, clothes, jewelry, makeup products, this site has everything. What first caught my eyes was the banner that read Free Shipping Worldwide but later got to know that it's only for bulk orders. However, shipping charges are actually pretty minimal. For Registered Airmail (China Post) its $1.98 and for Registered Airmail (Singapore Post), its $2.98. It's best to go with Singapore Post because it takes a lot less time. My stuff took me nearly 1.5 months to reach via China Post!

Coming back to the website, there's nothing that you cannot find here and they do have pretty weird and quirky stuff too. In fact, I've seen here clothes, jewelry and accessories that I've also seen in some of the online shopping websites and Facebook stores. Yup, now I know where most of them source their products from! I was in a big dilemma when I had to choose my products. At first I thought I'll get some accessories, then decided for some nail art, then makeup palettes, then brushes. At the end chucked all of them and got stuff which otherwise I would have probably not bought. Here's what I went for.

1. Strawberry Soft Sponge Hair Curlers- These are made of foam and you have to twist the hair around the stem and keep it for a while. I got a pack of 6 but should have got a lot more. It's tough to keep the hair around these for a long time as they come off pretty fast but if you manage to tightly fasten them, these really work. You can get pretty tight curls. Just need a lot of patience and you will look quite a sight with all those foam strawberries hanging from your head!

2. Rings - I got two. One of a cute fox and the other of a pretty ferocious dragon. Now the dragon did not quite turn out to be what I wanted. I thought it would be much smaller and would look cool. It still looks cool but is huge and very heavy! I wore it once and I had a lot of people staring at my fingers. More than a fashion accessory it's actually a very good weapon. One whack with this and I can cause a lot of pain to a body part!

3. Beauty Blender dupe - I've wanted to try the famous Beauty Blender for a really long time but unable to find one so I got myself a dupe for about $2. Yet to use this but the sponge does feel nice and firm.

4. Epi Roller - This is a very interesting product and very very handy for emergencies. This is used to get rid of facial hair and it involves no batteries. All you need to do is roll this on the area you need to remove hair from and the tightly coiled metal spring will yank the hair from the roots. The sensation is similar to threading. Maybe slightly less painful but this thing does work. It's great for doing the upper lip and chin area specially if there's not a lot of growth.

5. Moustache Watch - I love this and it looks so cool! The quality is great and does not look cheap or tacky at all. The price was around $7-8.

That was my Chinabuye haul. Took ages to reach but thankfully no customs since the package came via registered post. Take a look at the website and I'm sure you will find plenty of stuff to buy at very very cheap prices.

P.S - The products of my choice were given to me free of cost by the website.

Recent Buys - Elizabeth Arden, Yves Rocher and Freebies!

I know I know! About two weeks back when I was sharing with you back to back haul posts, I did say that I should not touch any beauty related product for the next 3 months. And now I'm again back with a mini haul post!! What will happen to me Dear God!!

These buys were absolutely not planned. I actually went to watch Chennai Express with my friends Poorna and Shikha and to pass time before the movie, was checking out the counters at Shoppers Stop. While I was going past the Elizabeth Arden counter, the very sweet SA told me that a clearance sale was on for their makeup and skincare range. Immediately I went to check the lipsticks but did not find anything interesting. I was about to walk away when on an impulse asked whats on offer for perfumes. She showed me a large animal print tote bag but that looked pretty bad. I said 'Girl, you give me something else then I might consider buying the new Green Tea Honeysuckle perfume'. She hemmed and hawed and then said 'Ok. I give you two options. Either a makeup palette or 14 ceramide capsules. Pick whatever you want'. I hemmed and hawed too and went in for the palette which is lovely. It's got a blush, two eye shadows and two lipsticks. The shades are great for everyday wear and I love them. The Green Tea perfume cost me Rs 1950 and the palette I'm sure is at least for 1000 so I got a pretty good deal. Thank you so much sweet SA!! I shall always buy Elizabeth Arden from you :D. Not sure if the offer is available in other cities but if you are buying perfume, always ask for freebies. They do have stuff to give but don't unless asked.

So I bought my perfume, got the free makeup palette and happily went off to watch Chennai Express which I loved btw. After the movie got over, Shikha said she wanted to go to Shopper's Stop again to check out the Yves Rocher counter and I tagged along. I was really not planning to buy anything but then Shikha swatched all these wonderful lipsticks and cream eye shadows and I succumbed. Picked up a lovely fuchsia-purple gloss and a very unique metallic greyish bronze green cream shadow. For all of you who are not aware, Yves Rocher is a French skincare and makeup brand that make some really good products. Their lipsticks and eye shadows are in such gorgeous shades. Think they are only in Bangalore and Kolkata right now but I might be wrong. Do check out their counter if there is one in your city. And they give freebies too!! I got a mini shower gel, loofah and samples of serum and moisturiser. Don't you just love it when SA's give freebies??

Here are the swatches. Both cost Rs 850.

July and August Haul - Part 2

Sorry pretties, I know I was supposed to post this two days back but I've got myself in this super lazy mode. I open my laptop to write blog posts but somehow end up reading beauty blogs, checking out online stores and watching you tube videos. Today I was determined to write at least one post and so at 4.10 a.m here I am presenting part 2 of my July and August haul. Those who missed part 1, here's the link if you want to take a look at the stuff I bought. I thought I would cover the remaining products in part 2 itself but realized it would be an overdose so watch out for part 3. In this post, I'll show you the bath, body and fragrance products that my mum and sis-in-law got for me from Singapore. Yes, I know..they are super sweet!. They got for me a lot of makeup as well but that's coming up in the next post. Let's focus on this one now.

Here's the list:

1. Sheet masks
2. The Body Shop Coconut and Blueberry body butter (not released here)
3. Burt's Bees, Victoria's Secret, Bebe Body Lotions. No idea why she got a Baby Bee lotion but it smells great and so what if its for babies?
4. Hand Creams and Body Scrub from local brands and Soap & Glory
5. The Body Shop Mango and Strawberry Body Mist
6. Victoria's Secret Body Mists

And now the pics..

Will be back with part 3 of the haul tomorrow (if I get back to my energetic blog posting mood that is). Meanwhile, which product caught your eye?

Weekend Haul

Yes I did it again! I hauled me some Rimmel and MAC. From Rimmel, I actually wanted only one Kate Moss lipstick but then thought why not add a couple of nail polishes to the kitty as well. Super impressed by slassy.com though. They delivered my stuff in less than two days time! Now if only they add more products and restock them regularly. Get so mad looking at the Out of Stock message when I want something real bad.

MAC recently launched the Apres Chic collection across stores in India. What I found strange about the collection is that even though this is a spring 2013 collection the colors are all so fall/winter. There are browns and nudes aplenty which are definitely not traditional summer colors. Hardly makes any difference to me since I do not go by seasons when it comes to makeup. I just wear what I like and also depends on what clothes I'm wearing that day. From this collection, I picked up a lipstick in the shade Hot Chocolate and the mineralise skin finish in Stereo Rose, a product that everyone went ga ga over when it was launched a couple of years back. From Inglot, I picked up two eye shadows from their Freedom System collection at 30% off. Unfortunately, the Kolkata store did not have many options to choose from so I settled for a shimmery olive and a nude shade.

Take a look at the pictures. Reviews coming up.
