L'Oreal Professionel Liss Unlimited Smoothing Shampoo and Masque - Review

I am back with another review of hair care products and this time it is the newly launched L'Oreal Professionel Liss Unlimited Shampoo and Smoothing Masque with Keratinoil complex. My hair has always loved L'Oreal Professionel products and the Mythic Oil range till date remains my absolute favorite. But it has met a very worthy competitor in the Liss Unlimited range.

Liss Unlimited has replaced the erstwhile Liss Ultime range and includes a shampoo, masque and serum. The range is specifically targeted towards smoothing rebellious hair and treating frizz. The range includes a shampoo, masque and serum and the active ingredients are Pro-Keratin, Kukui and Evening Primrose oils. I have tried the shampoo and masque and this post is all about them.

L'Oreal Paris UV Perfect Aqua Essence with SPF 30 - Review

I've done a couple of sunscreen reviews in the recent past and if you have read them you will know what's my no 1 reason for giving full marks to one. Protecting my skin and preventing tanning is definitely important but if a sunscreen is sweat proof and matte, it has already won half the battle.

L'Oreal Paris recently launched the UV Perfect Aqua Essence with SPF 30. Read on to know if it gets full marks from me for its performance.

L'Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil Giveaway - Winners Announced!

Sorry Sorry Sorry everyone for keeping you all waiting for this. I know I should have declared the names of the winners long back but things got really busy at work and I could barely get time to read through and validate all entries. But now I have done that and I have the names of the four ladies who will get a travel set containing a L'Oreal Professionel Mythic Oil Nourishing Shampoo (75 ml) and a Nourishing Masque (75 ml) each. I got some pretty amazing tips to get healthy, shiny and glossy hair and boy was it tough to choose the winners!

So without any further delay, here are the names of the four winners of the L'Oreal Mythic Oil Giveaway and the tips that they shared. Congratulations!

Priyanka Chowdhury -

Healthy hair is the way to strong and lustrous hair and my hair care tip that I consistently follow is:
1. Oil my hair every week with a homemade oil, which consists of olive oil, a teaspoon of castor oil, methi seeds and 5 drops of lemon grass essential oil. The methi seeds are put whole in the bottle with the oil mixture in it. I usually keep the bottle out in the sun until it warms up and then apply the oil and keep it overnight. This helps to keep my hair shiny, straight, soft and silky and also helps to keep dandruff at bay.
2. I then wash off the oil with a mild shampoo
3. And as a last step, I rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar.

Coral Crue -

What I follow is an ancient Kerala hair mask which is used for luscious, healthy and glossy hair.
Before you get ready to apply it: Freshly pluck the leaves and flowers of a red hibiscus plant, if you have long hair, take quite a bit. Wash the leaves and flowers in water. Grind all of this with a very little quantity of water just enough to form a paste. make sure the paste is very well ground and strain it. Use this thick paste with a dash of forest honey and 1 tsp sweet almond oil to hair. Apply generously on scalp and hair and leave for 30 minutes, rinse off. You will have amazing hair. This was given to me by a 98 year old elderly lady from our family. At the age of 98 she had lovely, long black hair with very few greys.

Nishat Anjum -

My best tip to get healthy and glosy hair: I use almond oil to massage my hair .leave it overnight.once in a week I apply lemon juice +curd +egg mix well and massage it .leave it for 45 min.then shampoo..it brings me a wonderful shine:).for conditioning i use fenugreek seed(Methi dana) and tea.boil both together for half an hour after shampooing rinse hair with this water.it makes a wonderful shine.I use Amla for my hair in a diet and sometimes I boil it in a water nd use boilled water for my hair..it nourishes my hair....
more important eat haelthy diet for long and strong hair.

Eshita Roy -

Your hair , I believe is the reflection of your inner health , so I do not forget to include a lot of greens , and a fruit each day in my diet and take a multivitamin and mineral capsule every alternate day (With Doc's permission , of course!! )
Also I am totally given to the goodness of oil therapy and this is what i pamper my tresses with occasionally :
Almond Oil – 40 ml
Coconut Oil – 40 ml
Castor Oil – 10 ml
Aroma Magic Stimulate Oil – 5 ml
Aroma Magic Lavender Oil – 5ml
Vitamin E capsules (Evion)– 3 capsules
and follow up with towel therapy and this has most definitely helped me combat dryness and added the much needed shine to my hair .

Thank you for your wonderful tips ladies. Will definitely try them out :).. Thank you all for participating and don't be disappointed if you did not win. Many more giveaways are coming up :)

Winners please mail me your contact details at poutpretty@gmail.com within 48 hrs. If I do not receive it by that time, I'll have to choose another winner :)

Thanks again everyone and till next time..

Keep Smiling :D

L'Oreal Shine Caresse Eve - Review, Swatches

L'Oreal recently launched the Shine Caresse lip stains which is basically the combination of a lip stain and a lip gloss. Here's what L'Oreal has to say about the new product:

Discover a stain that thinks it’s a gloss. Now hydration & shine meet lasting, lightweight color. Shine Caresse combines the power of a lip stain with lip-gloss luster. This next generation lip stain, formulated with a blend of light hydrating oils & concentrated pigments, delivers lasting color with a glossy finish. Packed with 30% water, Shine Caresse leaves lips soft, comfortable and hydrated for up to 6 hours.

There are eight shades in the Shine Caresse range, priced at Rs 499 each and I have to give it to L'Oreal for coming up with some really pretty names for these. When i went to the store to check them out, only two colors stood out for me. One was Juliette, a lovely bright reddish orange and Eve, a beautiful fuchsia. Eve came back with me home and this post is all about her.

Packaging:

The Shine Caresse stains are supposed to be dupes of YSL's famous glossy stains. I have not used YSL so can't really compare between the two but in terms of packaging, L'Oreal did not do too bad at all. The tube looks sleek and chic and I love the metallic finish. The applicator is a slightly bent leaf-shaped one which is quite convenient to use. It deposits the right amount of product, the tip is pointed so lining the lips becomes easy and with this shape you can cover the entire lips without any difficulty.

Color and Pigmentation

The main reason why I bought Eve was because of the color. I am a huge fan of hot/bright pinks and this attracted me immediately. Unfortunately, on my lips, the color is anything but fuchsia. It turns into a berry color, darker than what you can see in the tube. Well, it even smells of berries! It's not that the color is bad. It is quite gorgeous and perfect for medium-dark skin tones but this was not the color I was expecting so definitely a tad disappointed. On the lips, you can hardly make out that there is shimmer but if you look very closely, you can see tiny pink shimmer particles. The pigmentation is amazingly good. Usually lip stains go on quite sheer and you need to layer it on for color but this is far from sheer. Two swipes completely cover any pigmentation and the end result is glossy and very shiny lips.

Texture

Eve feels quite watery when applied but then it settles down on the lips. It is lightweight but slightly sticky but not the typical gloss like stickiness. While L'Oreal claims that the stains keep lips hydrated for up to 6 hours, on me that is not the case. It dries out my lips after a couple of hours and I need to apply a balm. Would have definitely liked the texture to be more creamy and hydrating.

Staying Power

Very few lip products last on me for more than 4 hours and this is pretty much the same. For a stain, the staying power is impressive and it survives meals and drinks. The only problem is that it fades unevenly. So the color is gone from the middle but there's some left on the sides and that looks terrible! I now make sure to fill in my lips with liner first and then layer the stain on top to prevent myself from looking like a clown!

Wearing L'Oreal Shine Caresse Eve

Am I head over heels in love with the new Shine Caresse? Well not really and the major reason is that it dries out my lips. The texture is not creamy or hydrating and I absolutely hate the fact that it fades unevenly. Also, I wish the color was true to what's shown in the tube. I definitely did not need another berry lip color! Personally, I think a one time buy is good enough for me. I'd rather buy a few more lip polishes :)

Have you tried any of the L'Oreal Shine Caresse shades? Do you like them?

L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique - Review

There has been a sudden boom in the launch of kajals and for a kajal loving person these are definitely happy times. The one that I'm reviewing today is a new L'oreal Paris launch said to be the queen of kajals!. L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique is enriched with vitamin E, cocoa butter, olive oil esters (Had no clue about esters. Googled and found out that these are chemical compounds and formed by condensing an acid with an alcohol. Where is the acid in olive oil??) and Vitamin C Derivative and it claims to be smudge proof for 12 hours, waterproof, non-transferable and suitable for contact lens wearers.

L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique
The packaging I love and its my favorite of all the kajals in the market now. Main reason is that it's hot pink and blank, my favorite color combination (that will be pout pretty's new color combo when I shift to a .com soon :D). The pencil is a retractable one so no 'jhamela' with sharpening and no wastage of product. Texture of the kajal is soft and creamy so it is very easy to apply. Glides on the lids and no tugging and pulling. The problem that I have is with the pigmentation. I had expected this to be a pitch black one but it's pretty much the same as the Colossal Kajal. On the lids, it takes a couple of swipes for the color to show up well but on the waterline, I'm quite disappointed with the performance. I have to swipe at least four times to get the desired color.

In terms of staying power, on my lids I have tested the kajal for 10 hours and it did not smudge or fade away. On the waterline, it smudged after 5 hours and I was left with mild raccoon eyes which i certainly did not like. I had no problem removing the kajal with my trusted Johnson's baby oil but I should add that I did try and check if it fades away on coming in contact with water and it did not. So kudos for that.

L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique on my lids
L'Oreal's Kajal Magique has a lot of good features. It has a soft and creamy texture, does not irritate eyes and waterline, is smudge proof and waterproof and lasts for nearly 10 hours. What I don't like is the fact that it is not the 'blackest black' and is priced at Rs 245. It is the most expensive kajal in the market right now and I wish they kept it below the Rs 200 mark.

If you are looking for an intense black color, L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique  might not be your cup of tea (or coffee). If texture and staying power is more important to you, then this is worth a try.

Have you tried L'Oreal Paris Kajal Magique?Do you like it?

On My Nails Today - L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Vernis Lush Tangerine

If you love orange, you will love L'Oreal's Lush Tangerine on your nails. Its a bright, rich orange without any shimmer, that goes on really smooth. The color was included in the L'Or Sunset Makeup Collection even though it released quite some time back. I love the flattened brush that comes with the polish as it makes application quite precise and easy to apply. It takes 3 coats to go completely opaque and has a glossy, cream finish. I like that the polish dries up very fast and its been on my nails for three days now and I have not noticed any chipping yet. The price at Rs 235 is expensive but I like the quality of these Color Riche polishes.

Here's how it looks on me..

P.S - Sample provided by brand PR. Opinion is 100% mine.

What is your favorite Color Riche polish?
