Nails of the Day with NewU polish French Blue

'Sasta (cheap), Sundar (pretty) and Tikau (value for money/long lasting). These three words best describe the tiny nail polishes found at NewU stores. I know we rave about the Maybelline Colorshow polishes because of their great quality and low price. Well, these ones are cheaper at Rs 50 and I'm yet to come across one that I dislike. Everytime I go to a NewU store, I always check out the bottles placed next to the cashier. They don't have a large range but the ones they do are in some very pretty colors. Picked up 3 some days back and wore one today. The color is a beautiful turquoise and green mix (the camera did not capture the green unfortunately)and the name of the shade is French Blue. Check out these polishes when you are at the store next or you can even buy them from their website (http://www.newu.in). You will not regret getting a few :)

Have you tried the NewU polishes? Do you like them?

Nails of the Day with Maybelline Color Show and Rimmel

I have a love/hate relationship with nail polish. Sometimes I hate to see anything on my nails so stay far away from polish and sometimes I'll change the color of my nails every day. And right now, I am in the latter phase :D. Yesterday, I picked up three new colors from the Maybelline Color Show range (they are seriously addictive!) and immediately wore one on my return home. I went for sparkly silvery nails and used the shade Silver Linings topped off with Rimmel's Disco Ball.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polishes in Kiss-me-Pink & Blackcurrant Pop

I'm sure all of you are aware of Maybelline's latest launch by now. The Color Show range of nail polishes are the rage in the blogging world and I'm joining in to show you two lovely shades. When these polishes came out a couple of weeks back, I honestly did not expect them to be priced at Rs 75 and I give the folks at Maybelline a big hug for keeping them so affordable. On my FB page, a lady commented that she buys them for nearly Rs 300 in the Middle East! And I've heard that they are priced much higher in other countries as well. Just hope Maybelline sticks to this price tag and does not hike it soon.

The Color Show range has 40 shades though I'm yet to see all the 40 in the stores. I love the colors and more so because they are so vibrant and pretty. Just coz they are priced at Rs 75, don't think they are of an inferior quality. These polishes are super! They go opaque in two coats, dry pretty fast, give a glossy finish and have a decent wear time as well. I did notice that by the 3rd day there was a slight hint of tip wear but there was no chipping. Both shades lasted for nearly five days.

The shades I'm showing you today are Kiss-Me-Pink, a very bright fuchsia with subtle duo-chrome that reflects a tinge of blue and Blackcurrant Pop, a pretty lavender creme. I've topped them off with Maybelline Colorama polish in Glitter Prata.

The Maybelline Color Show polishes are totally worth the hype and I can't stop raving about them. I've bought another five of these and will show them to you soon. There is a color for everyone so go pick up a few from a store near you. You won't be disappointed.

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy Nail Enamel Eclipse - Review, Pics, Swatches

Ever since I came across Revlon's nail art range of polishes in international blogs, I've always wanted to lay my hands on these pretty pieces although I must admit that I've never been much into nail art. I love looking and appreciating what amazing things some of you come up with but there is just too much of effort involved in creating something intricate and me basically being a lazy person, I take the easy way out. The max I do is apply glitter on my nails and that is my version of nail art :)..

For people like me as well as serious lovers of nail art, Revlon's new launch will make us very happy. Priced at Rs 300 each, the new line of dual ended polishes comes in three variances - Neon, Moon Candy and Expressionist. Neon range has a white base coat and a bright top coat for a pop of shocking color, Expressionist range has a skinny brush to help draw masterpieces on your nails and Moon Candy has chunky foil flakes to give a 3D effect. I'm always drawn to anything that is shiny and glittery so picked up a Moon Candy in the shade Eclipse.

Here's what I think about Eclipse:

1. The polish looks pretty cool. On one side, its a dark purple which is the base color and on the other side, a blue and purple flakie polish and the combination works really well. So for Rs 300, you are basically getting two polishes which is decent value for money. They are also great for travel since they do not take up too much space.

2. The base coat which is the dark purple applies quite well. It goes opaque in about 2 coats and has a moderately glossy finish. Thankfully dries up pretty fast as well.

3. The other end of the tube has the chunky glittery foil flakes. Even though the bottle looks pink, on the nails it turned out to be more blue/purple. I first applied one coat and saw that hardly anything was transferred on to the nails so went in for a second coat.

4. The combination of the dark purple with the flakes is really eye catching and looks lovely. The flakes themselves are rather disappointing though. I love what they do but are too chunky and uneven which means that they do not fall flat on the nails. Some edges stick out so you will need to lightly press them back on. One tip while using any Moon Candy polish - dab to place the flakes rather than sweep them across the nails. That's my learning.

3. Dry time is a bit longer than usual because the flakie polish is thicker than the base coat. So be patient after you have applied this and keep it only to two coats. If you apply more, because of how thick it is, your nails will become a gooey mess!

4. I've been wearing it for about a day and a half now and still have not noticed any chipping. I'm assuming it will be more easier to remove than glitter polish.

Overall Thoughts:

I would have liked the flakie polish to have applied more evenly and sparkle more. The iridescent effect looks good but then 'Ye Dil Always Mange More' right? Despite these few shortcomings, I still think these polishes are worth trying and are decent value for money. There are plenty of shades to choose from so you will definitely find one that you really like. Here's a preview of what's on offer.

On My Nails Today - L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Vernis Lush Tangerine

If you love orange, you will love L'Oreal's Lush Tangerine on your nails. Its a bright, rich orange without any shimmer, that goes on really smooth. The color was included in the L'Or Sunset Makeup Collection even though it released quite some time back. I love the flattened brush that comes with the polish as it makes application quite precise and easy to apply. It takes 3 coats to go completely opaque and has a glossy, cream finish. I like that the polish dries up very fast and its been on my nails for three days now and I have not noticed any chipping yet. The price at Rs 235 is expensive but I like the quality of these Color Riche polishes.

Here's how it looks on me..

On My Nails Today - Lotus Herbals Color Dew Nail Enamels Go Grapes & Lavender Love

Lotus Herbals recently launched some new shades in the Color Dew nail enamel range for summer and I received three of them to try out. I've worn two today - A mint shade with the name Go Grapes (no idea what is the connection between mint and grapes!) and a lavender with the name Lavender Love. These are priced at Rs 110 each.

The Color Dew enamels are free of Toluene and DBP and therefore safe for the nails. These are my first polishes from Lotus Herbals and they are quite nice. I love that they come with long handles. For a klutz like me, who is terrible at applying polish on the right hand, the long handles do give some amount of control. The texture is creamy and the finish quite glossy. It takes two coats to go opaque but I did notice that it does not dry out very fast possibly because of the absence of the chemicals. That's not something I like but can live with. Will now need to see how many days these polishes last without chipping.

Take a look at the two shades and please ignore the terrible state of my unmanicured hands :(

Have you tried any of the Color Dews?

Faces Cosmetics Ultime Pro Nail Lacquer Petunias - Review, NOTD

Faces Cosmetics recently launched the Ultime Pro range of makeup and I was sent a few samples to try. The first product that I tried was the nail lacquer in the shade Petunias. You must have the seen the first look on the blog and the Facebook page last week. This post is about my review of this beauty.

The Ultime Pro Nail Lacquer is is a long lasting and chip resistant nail polish. It comes in a high shine finish formula that applies smoothly and lasts longer and are priced at Rs 399. The shade Petunias is a gorgeous bright blue pink which is a must in every girl's nail polish kitty. This is my first Faces nail polish and I'm very impressed by the quality. It applies smoothly, takes 2 coats to go opaque, formula is not runny and dries up within seconds of application, and gives a high shine finish. In the pictures, I've not used any base or top coat because I did not feel the need to. On my nails, the color lasted for 3 days before I noticed slight chipping on the tips. Even though the quality is top class, the price is pretty high and that's my only stumbling block on the way to buying more of these. Would have bought the entire range if the price was kept low. Yep, the quality is really that good.

I absolutely love Petunias and recommend it highly. If you love nail polishes and would not mind shelling out Rs 399 on one, you have to buy one of the Ultime Pro Nail Lacquers!

Have you tried any of the Faces Cosmetics Ultime Pro Nail Lacquers? Whats your favorite shade?

My latest love - Avon's Color Me Pretty Nail Enamel in Flirty. Review and Pics

If anyone had told me about a year back that I would be going bonkers over nail polishes, I would have given them a whack on their heads. Seriously!...I used to be a certified nail polish hater!!! I hated any color on my nails and always kept them natural. Maybe a clear polish at times. But then something happened...I started looking at all your lovely blogs, your nail art lured and enticed me no end and I thought ok why not try one and see how it goes? I bought Maybelline's Colorama in Coral Chic and was hooked.....And thus started my love affair with nail polishes....

Well now that I've told you my story lets get down to the real reason why I'm writing this post. And the reason is to let you know that I have finally found what I've been looking for. A super hot pink nail polish and guess what? Neither is it from any high-end brand nor ridiculously expensive. Well ladies, let me introduce you to my latest love..Avon's Color Me Pretty Nail Enamel in Flirty!

Let me share why I'm lovin this beauty..

1. Color - A HOT HOT Pink which will look good on anyone's hands despite their skin color. One coat is bright. Two coats is whoaaa...This will also be a very good base for those who are into nail art. If you love bright pinks on your nails as much as I do, go for this.

2. Price - Flirty is really affordable. Think I bought it for about 60 bucks!

3. Texture - Won't say its the creamiest polish around but I quite like how smooth it is to apply. No ridges on the nails.

4.  Staying Power - Beats most of the pricey brands in this department. I've been wearing this for 4 days now and no chipping!

What I did not like was the really tiny bottle. The packaging is pretty cute but the quantity is not. Would have loved to have more of you Flirty!

Here are a few pics of me wearing her......

P.S - I haven't had a manicure in a while so please excuse the state of my nails :D
