Avon Ultra Color Matte Lipsticks Matte Lilly and Matte Garnet - Review, Swatches

Avon recently launched the Ultra Color Matte range of lipstick in 10 shades and I got two of them to try out - Matte Lilly, a cool toned pink and Matte Garnet, a true red.

The Ultra Color Matte lipsticks:
  • Moisturizes lips while depositing vivid, dramatic color
  • Velvety matte texture envelops lips in full rich color without drying
  • Gives full coverage with SPF 15

I've been testing these two shades for the past three days and I am seriously impressed with the texture and pigmentation. Even though these are termed matte, I would say these are semi-matte lipsticks because they are quite creamy and have a slight glossy finish. The pigmentation is really good and it takes only one swipe to go opaque. However, like matte lipsticks, these don't really last too long on my lips because of the creamy texture and I get about 3-4 hours out of them. I've noticed that Matte Lilly is creamier than Garnet however Garnet appears glossier on the lips than Lilly. Both lipsticks are hydrating and do not dry out the lips.

Matte Lilly is a very pretty pink but it's not a color that goes very well with my NC 43.5 complexion. On anyone who is lighter, this will look lovely. Matte Garnet on the other hand is right up my alley. It's a gorgeous true red and any complexion will rock this color. Also, love the stylish black packaging of these lipsticks. They look really nice.

The Avon Ultra Color Matte lipsticks are priced at Rs 375 and I think they are great value for money. Don't expect a pure matte lipstick but if you are looking for a semi-matte finish with good pigmentation and a creamy texture, check out this range. One con with Matte Garnet is with transfer. No feathering or bleeding but I did notice red lip marks on my glass ten minutes after applying it but again this is not a traditional matte lipstick. Despite this con, I still love the texture and I would recommend you to try out this range. The shades are well suited for the Indian skin tone and they have some nice berry and chocolate shades. In June, there is a 25% discount on them and you can get for Rs 279 each. Go grab a few from an Avon representative.
