Maybelline Superstay 14 Hour Lipstick Non-Stop Red - Review, Swatch, LOTD

Before you go "Oh God, she is again writing about red lipstick!!!", let me tell you, in my defense that I wasn't planning on a red lipstick post for a really long time. But then, this color and I met and I just had to show it to you. I'm a beauty blogger and it's my moral responsibility to share with you things that I like right?? So, here I am with a review of a color that I'm currently going ga ga over. And that is Maybelline's Super Stay 14 hr lipstick in Non-Stop Red.

By now, all you fans of Lisa Eldridge must know that this lipstick was featured in her 'Ultimate Guide to Red Lips' video and I now know why it's worth all the rave. The color is simply to die for. It's so gorgeous! A beautiful bright pinky red that brightens and perks up any complexion.

To drill down to the nitty gritties of the lipstick, the packaging is definitely not my favorite. The white cap looks so tacky and would have loved if it was in a different color. On the other hand, I like that it's a transparent tube which makes it easy to figure out the color of the lipstick inside. Another thing which I'm still on the fence about is the fragrance. It's a berry kind of a smell and it is quite strong. I won't say that I hate it but it could have been toned down slightly.

The color. Oh the gorgeous color! It's so beautiful. There's nothing subtle about the color. Yes, it's bold, beautiful and I must say one that is universally flattering. I honestly don't think that anyone can ever look bad wearing this. This one is quite a chameleon too. On me, it's a pinky red. On some others, it comes across a firetruck red. The pigmentation is pretty good however I did notice that it takes a couple of swipes to get the full color on the lips. One of the cons is that it applies a bit unevenly on the lips if you are doing it straight from the tube. My recommendation is to use a lip brush to get a smooth finish.

In terms of formula, this is definitely not a moisturising lipstick so beware all you dry lips pretties. Before using this, remember to slather on a substantial amount of lip balm else it can get very uncomfortable after a while. I don't have dry lips but even I can feel the dryness if I don't prep my lips beforehand. I also prep my lips for another issue - to prevent the lipstick from sticking on to the lips. That's what happens if you apply it directly from the tube to bare lips. Therefore, remember these two rules - use a lip brush and exfoliate and apply a balm before using Non-Stop Red.

Maybelline claims that it lasts for 14 hrs. I haven't tried it for 14 hours but I can vouch for it not moving from my lips for nearly 9 hrs. I wore it to office on a friday and it lasted me the entire day. No transfer, bleeding, feathering nothing. So be rest assured. Once this baby is on your lips, nothing but a makeup remover can take it off. So all you girls, looking to wear red on Valentine's Day, buy this. You can do whatever you want to with your lips, this will not leave your side :P

Apart from the dryness and sticky factor, I love this lipstick. I can ignore everything just for the color and of course the staying power. When I wear this lipstick, it makes me look good and anything that makes me look good, I love. Simple! The price is slightly more at Rs 525 but I'd pay that for the quality.

Final Verdict - Get this lipstick if you love red matte lips. Even if you don't, I would still recommend you pick this up coz it will look gorgeous on you for sure. This range has some really pretty colors. Gotta stock up on some corals now!

Have you tried any of the Maybelline Superstay 14 Hr lipsticks? Which is your favorite?

Wow this looks great! I haven't tried their Superstay lipsticks as I heard the dryness is a huge issue, but I really like this colour! Nice review :)
