I know a lot of you are really happy and excited to welcome winter but let me tell you something about myself. I absolutely hate the winter! And I have a number of reasons for doing so. For starters, the days are shorter, I need to be bunched up in woolens, I cannot take a bath in cold water, I tend to put on weight and last but definitely not the least of my woes, I have super dry skin in winter!. I need to constantly slather on body lotions and creams to keep dryness at bay and I find that to be such a painful task!
To win the battle against dryness, I'm always on the lookout for suitable products and during a recent trip to FabIndia, came across the Silk Protein Nourishing Cream. I was attracted to the little tub for three main reasons - The lovely smell, the product description and the price which is very reasonable at Rs 150. After using the cream for some days now, I can safely add another reason - it really works!
Here's what the company says about the product :
Formulated with sunflower oil, olive oil, vitamin E and Sericin, a silk protein, this cream is ideal for nourishing dry, dull skin. Regular application keeps the skin soft and smooth.
Ingredients:
Purified Water, Sunflower Oil, Cetosearyl Alcohol, Capric Caprylic Triglyceride, Glycerine, GMS, Emulsifying Wax, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Fragrance, Kokum Butter, Dimethicone, Cyclo- methicone, Almond Oil, Silk Protein, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium PCA, Imid Urea, Carbopol 2020, Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate.

Why it Works for Me:
1. Love the smell. Can't really pinpoint what it is but love the flowery musky smell. Does not last for long though
2. Despite the consistency being very thick, it does not feel heavy or greasy on the face and absorbs within minutes of applying leaving me with smooth, soft skin that is well hydrated.
3. The effect of the cream lasts for quite a long time. Not sure how the performance will be when winter is at its peak but now it lasts for nearly 10 hrs without reapplying.
4. Did not break me out so great for sensitive skin
5. Can also be used as a night cream.
6. Inexpensive
The only concern is the presence of so many chemicals. Not sure why FabIndia products are marketed as natural when the ingredients mention so many chemicals!!
Final Thoughts
If you have dry skin then this is a product worth checking out. It really keeps dryness at bay and helps in improving the skin texture. Oily skin beauties, you might want to try this out first at the store though. Won't be right for you in summer because of its heavy texture but for the winter it might not be too bad.
Have you tried this cream or any of FabIndia's skincare products?
