Maybelline's Limited Edition Jewels Collection has brought six wonderful shades into the market. I picked up two shades - Refined Wine and Berry Brilliant. Refined Wine I have already reviewed here. Today is Berry Brilliant's turn.
A few of you have felt that Refined Wine is too dark and very difficult to carry off. Get it's lovely fraternal twin then, the gorgeous deep plum Berry Brilliant. Both of them look pretty similar in the tube but Berry is much lighter and has more of pink in it.
The first thing that struck me after swatching this lipstick is its similarity to MAC's Rebel. Not that I have Rebel (it's always out of stock in Kol...can someone help plzz!!) but I have swatched it so many times that I could make out the similarity immediately. They are not really identical to each other but pretty similar. While Rebel is more purple, Berry Brilliant has more of pink/fuchsia in it. If you don't want to spend Rs 990 on a MAC, get the Maybelline alternative. You won't be disappointed!
This shade is one which will look good on all skin tones. The color instantly brightens up the face and if you love berries and wines, do get Berry Brilliant. Its a great shade to own.
The pigmentation, texture is top class and I'm also impressed by it's staying power. Gives me about 4-5 hrs of wear including meals after which it fades off leaving a nice fuchsia stain which lasts for a really long time as well. This range of lipsticks is also more glossy and moisturising as compared to the regular ColorSensational ones so they are great for dry lips. Like Refined Wine, the fragrance is too strong and that's the only thing I dislike about the lipstick.
Maybelline ColorSensational The Jewels Collection is priced at Rs 350 and available in stores and online. Just remember that this collection is a Limited Edition, so you won't get these shades after the stock runs out.
