SoulTree Colour Rich Lipstick Stormy Mauve - Review, swatches

When I first read about SoulTree's Mohini range of beauty and grooming products, I was quite impressed and eager to try them out. I do not know any other company in India that makes organic makeup and therefore the interest level to try out the new Colour Rich ayurvedic lipstick was quite high. The ingredient list read - made with natural origin colours, organic sweet almond oil, wild honey, organic ghee, essence of rose, no parabens and lead. But like they say, don't judge a book by the cover and that's what happened to me too.

The shade I was sent is Stormy Mauve, a kinda blackish purple color in a matte finish that I would have never picked up myself. The lipstick looks decent enough - a black packaging with white and pink lettering on it. The bullet comes in a very simple silver packaging.

The major problem with the lipstick is its pigmentation. I had to swipe nearly 6-7 times to get this color on my hand. Kinda glad that the pigmentation of this shade is not too intense coz imagine how I would have looked then! But overall, this gets very poor marks on pigmentation. I also do not like the texture - its hard and waxy and reminds me of a crayon. The lipstick applies unevenly and there is quite a bit of tugging and pulling involved. The staying power is also quite low - around 1-2 hrs and I hate the smell!. Unfortunately I liked nothing about the lipstick except for the ingredients but what's the use of having natural ingredients if a lipstick does not serve its purpose of giving color to the lips right? And specially when it is priced at Rs 450!

Kudos to SoulTree for coming out with organic products but I hope they do some more research for the makeup range and give us stuff that we won't have to be disappointed about.

P.S - PR Sample. Review 100% mine
