The Body Shop Vitamin E Cool BB Cream - Review, Swatch

Right now there is no dearth of BB creams in the Indian beauty market. Every brand seems to come out with their own BB cream and The Body Shop is definitely not one to lag behind. Two weeks back, they launched another addition to their BB cream range and this time it is the Vitamin E Cool BB Cream. The product was unveiled in Kolkata and I had attended the event along with some fellow bloggers. If you want to see pictures of the event, click here. The Body Shop gave us all a complimentary sample of the product that I've been testing since then and now all set to share my views on the Vitamin E Cool BB Cream.

Here's what The Body Shop says about the BB cream:

Experience beautifully fresh-looking skin in an instant. Vitamin E COOL BB Cream illuminates evens and corrects your complexion for a refreshed skin-look. What’s more, this hydrating BB Cream drenches skin with moisture for 12 hours. Skin feels wonderfully comfortable all day long. Available in one cool shade, the lightweight texture will effortlessly blend onto skin for a fresh and natural look.

My Views:

The Vitamin E skincare range is one of my favorites from The Body Shop as it really suits my normal-dry skin. This range has been a bestseller for 35 yrs and apparently, one Vitamin E product sells every three seconds worldwide. The Vit E BB cream is a good addition to the range but is it worth Rs 995? Read on to find out.

The cream comes in a tube with a flip top cap and looks pretty with its pink and white packaging. The size is 50 ml and the tube is perfect to be slipped into a bag or taken along while travelling. I love the smell of the cream which reminds me of hazelnut coffee. Not sure what the fragrance is but it is quite nutty and nice.

The cream comes out of the tube quite thick but it blends super easily and feels extremely light on the skin. There is a little bit of a cooling sensation when applied but it is quite mild and goes away after 30-40 secs. The ultra-blendable texture is a winner for me and I love that it sinks into the skin so fast. Since it blends fast, there might be a tendency to pack on more product but that's not required. You will need a little bit to cover the face and a tip is to use it with a slightly moist foundation brush to even it out, if you don't want to use fingers.

The Vitamin E Cool BB Cream comes in only one shade and unless you are extremely fair, this will work well on most skin tones. On one hand it does blend very well into my NC43 skin tone without making it look ashy. On the other hand it blends in so well that I can hardly see any difference on my face with regards to coverage. It really does nothing to cover up the flaws and I see that as a big problem for skin tones above NC42. When I apply it, it gives a dewy finish and I do see my face looking brighter but no hiding imperfections. On skin tones below NC42, this will show up much better and I see this as a good option if you are looking for a cream that moisturizes, brightens and gives light coverage.

See how well it blends but not much difference in skin tone

The Vitamin E BB Cream promises 12 hour moisturisation and it really does live up to this claim. If you have dry skin, you will love this but not so if you have super oily skin. Even though this does blend well, it might be a tad too heavy and greasy for you because of the presence of wheatgerm oil.

Final thoughts:

I like the Vitamin E BB cream because it provides very good hydration for nearly 9-10 hrs and is extremely light and comfortable to wear. It gives a dewy finish and makes my skin look bright. What I don't like is that I get practically no coverage out of this on my NC43 skin. To me, this is an excellent tinted moisturizer on its own but for coverage, I need to mix in a bit of foundation. It is also a very expensive tinted moisturizer I should add! Rs 995 is very high and definitely a con for me. Wish The Body Shop had reduced the price of this.

If you have a lighter skin tone than me with normal-dry skin and want sheer-medium coverage, this product should work well for you. For darker skin tones, minus the coverage, if you want the other benefits, this is an option you can try out.

Have you tried any of The Body Shop BB Creams?
