#SayNoToBars & Take Care of Your Skin Dear Men!

Dear men, I know you don't care much about taking care of your skin (well, most of you don't) but it is high time you do. Believe me there's nothing 'girl-like' or 'unmanly' about taking care of one of the most vital organs of your body. You are worried about your heart, lungs, kidneys right then why not your skin which is prone to maximum damage? You will spend lakhs on getting yourself fancy clothes, shoes, gadgets, cars etc but when it comes to washing your face, you use a soap bar! Cmon, stop being a 'bar-barian' and #SayNo ToBars! Soap bars that is.

You might ask then what is a good alternative? Well, use a face wash that is much more gentle than that soap bar. If you keep using that bar for years, your skin will become dry and you will get wrinkles much earlier and that ain't too macho right? You can use the new Garnier Men Oil Clear Facewash if you have oily skin and the Garnier Men Acnofight Facewash if you have acne. And if you have normal to dry skin, you can try Garnier Men Powerlight Facewash. And if you don't know what is your skin type, then just google or better, ask the women in your life for guidance.

A good face wash suitable for your skin type is a must have. There are two other must-haves which you must use religiously everyday. Here goes..

Moisturise - Moisturising the skin is also equally important, for all skin types (yes, even oily skin!). You can use the Garnier Men Powerlight Oil Control & Fairness Moisturiser to control oil secretion and keep your face looking fresh all day.

Apply sunscreen - Men who don't use sunscreen increase their risk of getting sun damage, which result in irritation and also skin cancer. Stay forever young (or close to it) by applying sunscreen every single day.

Just incorporate these three products in your everyday life and use them religiously. Your skin will thank you for it!

Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Neem Face Wash - Review

Throughout the end of winter and spring (whatever we get of that here!), I used the Omved face wash to soothe my dry skin. But now that summer is officially here bringing with itself oily skin and breakouts, I switched over to the Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Neem Face Wash. It is enriched with the power of Neem Leaf extract and tea tree oil and claims to fight bacteria, pollution and excess oil.

The face wash comes in a plastic tube and contains a transparent green slimy gel. Since neem is an active ingredient in the face wash, I was expecting this to smell terrible. Thankfully it does not. There is a hint of neem definitely but the presence of tea tree oil gives it a very fresh and natural smell. What I like about the face wash is that it is soap free, lathers well, does not make the skin stretchy or dry after washing and it really is effective in controlling the secretion of oil. Not that my skin is excessively oily, but it does control those shiny patches. Even though I have not seen any difference on the few pimples that I have already but touch wood, no new ones have come up ever since I started using this.

Overall I'm quite satisfied with this product and can see this becoming a good friend during the summer. For Rs 75, it is not only affordable but also effective. I recommend!

What face wash do you use currently?

Garnier Light Eye Roll-on Pen - Review

I'm a complete night bird. However not by choice but by profession and have been one for the last three years. I go to sleep everyday at 5.00 am and this professional hazard has really taken a toll on my eyes unfortunately :(. I have a bad case of puffiness when I get up in the morning and I've been battling dark circles too. A product that I've been trying out for some days is the Garnier Light Eye Roll-on, voted product of the year in 2010 and quite pleased with the results.

The Eye Roll-On contains caffeine, an energizing and anti-tiredness ingredient as well as pro-Vitamin B5 to work on hydration. Both together claim to reduce puffiness, dark circles and brighten the eye contour. The product is designed like a pen with a roll-on metal cap to massage the eye area and I really like the design. It's compact, safe for travelling and can be applied without using the fingers. I use it after waking up and anytime that my eyes look puffy. Because of the metal roll on cap, the liquid feels cool and its very refreshing. Thankfully, the liquid gets absorbed very fast into the skin and does not run all over the face.

This has become a staple in my handbag ever since I've started using it. Whenever I feel my eyes need a pick-me-up, out comes the roll-on and I say hello to bright looking eyes instantly. The puffiness does get reduced and the eye area looks brighter but the only con is that the results do not last for long. This is a quick fix solution for puffiness but to see if I can say bye bye to puffiness and dark circles forever , Ill have to test this product for a considerable amount of time.

Here's what I like about the Garnier Light Eye Roll-on :

1. Compact design and easy to apply
2. Liquid is very light and gets absorbed very fast
3. No need to use fingers to massage in the product
4. A little goes a long way
5. The cooling effect is very soothing
6. Gives visible results for puffiness and tired looking eyes
7. Reasonably priced at Rs 199
8. No side effects or breakouts
9. Does not dry out the skin

What I don't like:

1. Results are not long lasting. I wake up to puffy eyes everyday and only when I apply this can I see a difference.
2. Not made a lot of difference to dark circles yet.
2. Would have preferred the tube to be transparent. Can't figure out how much is left

Overall Thoughts:

At Rs 199, its worth trying out specially for all of you who sit in front of computers at a stretch or have late nights. This is quite a handy product to brighten the eye contour and make eyes look less tired.

Have you tried the Garnier Roll-on pen? What has been your experience?

Garnier Light 3 in 1 Fairness Facial - Review

Ever since I started beauty blogging, I've realized that I've become much more open to trying out new products. Case in point - The Garnier Light 3 in 1 Fairness Facial. I've always been wary of fairness products and products that claim to have multiple benefits coz honestly I didn't believe in them. And that's the major reason why I was holding off on trying the new Garnier fairness facial for all this while. Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to try it out some days back and now I'm wondering why I didn't get it earlier!

So what exactly is the Garnier Light 3 in 1 Fairness Facial? Its a face wash cum scrub cum mask that works in 3 ways to give brighter and more radiant skin. The face wash deep cleans, the scrub removes dead cells and the mask gives instant fairness and glow to the skin. For more information:

Face wash: It is enriched with Zinc known for its purifying properties, it helps deep clean and eliminate impurities.
Scrub: It contains pumice, a natural exfoliating agent; it removes dark cells and visibly reduces skin imperfections.
Face mask: Enriched with White Clay known for its absorbing properties, it makes complexion more uniform to reveal an instant glow.

Did you just say What? This has pumice? But that's what I use to clean my feet? Yup, same thoughts as mine and believe me, I got really scared when I read that. But don't worry, this scrub won't really yank off your skin. It has small pumice granules, which are slightly abrasive but is pretty effective in removing the dead cells.

The texture of this product is like a paste because of the clay and it's not a liquid or a gel. It has small white and blue granules which does the work of the scrub. I actually like it more as a scrub and mask than a face wash and that's what I primarily use this product for. It's quite a good exfoliator and I also like the cooling effect that it gives off on application. Perfect for the hot summer months!

I've been using it as a scrub twice a week and as a face mask once a week for sometime now. Have not seen any difference in my complexion and I wasn't looking for that either but yes my skin does feel clean, smooth, refreshed and looks healthy after I use this. Thankfully, I've not had any issues with breakouts either. The only con is that it makes the skin slightly dry and tight after washing off so a good moisturizer is very much needed.

To sum it up, this is quite a handy product specially for women-on-the go who do not have a lot of time in their hands and are looking for instant fixes. Don't buy this for the fairness claims but if you are looking for a product that effectively cleans, exfoliates and makes the skin look radiant, the Garnier Light 3 in 1 Fairness Facial is a good buy. Won't put too much pressure on the wallet too. A 50 gm tube costs Rs 99 and 100 gm for Rs 179.
