NARS Night Porter Eyeshadow - Review, EOTD

Night Porter is my first NARS eye shadow and I bought it after reading some wonderful things about this shade. Green is one of my favorite eye shadow colors and when I saw the swatches, just could not resist ordering it from strawberrynet for around Rs 1500.

Night Porter was released by NARS as part of the Night Series collection in 2011 and this is the color that got the best reviews. NARS has made the eye shadows permanent so you can get these at any store or online. Night Porter is a gorgeous dark forest green with a golden metallic sheen. I've used the color both dry and wet and it is easier to apply and looks much better when applied with a slightly damp brush. The color pay off is great and it looks so rich. When dry, it is stiff and hard and quite difficult to blend.  Also, not much of the shimmer shows up on the lids. There is however no creasing and fading and the color lasts for nearly 6-7 hours even without a primer.

Night Porter is a pretty unique shade and is great for a smokey eye look. It pairs wonderfully well with black, gold and any warm color. Here, I've applied Night Porter all over the lids and a bit of gold in the middle. Lined eyes with kohl and finished off with two coats of L'oreal's Volume Million mascara.

I love Night Porter because it's such a gorgeous color. Will I say it's a must have? No, I won't and the reason is that it's stiff and hard to work with. Buy it if you love the color and don't mind the texture.

NARS Casablanca Lipstick - Review, Swatches

While going through my lipstick stash last week, I realized that I have a lot of shades that I've not yet shown you all so expect quite a few lipstick reviews over the next couple of weeks. Starting off the 'lipstick fest' with a classic shade, Casablanca by NARS.

NARS describes Casablanca as a 'classic, full bodied coral' but it's actually a very pretty subtle peachy orange. Out of all lipstick colors, the one I find toughest to carry off is an orange. When there was this huge craze over the Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick Obsessed Orange, I got caught up in it too and bought one. And I hated it coz it did nothing for my skin tone. It made me look dull and sallow and I've never worn the color since. Buying the perfect orange is not an easy task but I can guarantee that you can buy Casablanca with your eyes closed. The color is not too bright nor too light but somewhere in the middle and is perfect for warm skin tones.

I am a big fan of NARS lipsticks specially for their texture and finish. Casablanca has a satin finish, gives a slight sheen to the lips and has very good pigmentation. It feels weightless on the lips and is extremely comfortable to wear. The color lasts for around four hours on me and does not make my lips dry but neither is it moisturising.

If you are looking for a subtle orange no shade can be better than Casablanca. I bought it from strawberrynet about a month back for around Rs 1700. It's expensive yes but every NARS lipstick is so worth the price. Unfortunately strawberrynet does not have it right now but they do stock up frequently so keep a watch out.

NARS Semi-matte Lipstick Heat Wave - Review, Swatches

I've spent nearly 15 mins trying to come up with an interesting introduction to this post but my mind has hit a blank. That's why Ill get straight to the point. If you love red lipstick, love MAC's Scarlet Ibis but have not managed to get your hands on it, love matte finishes and do not mind spending a bit more than MAC lipsticks, then NARS Heatwave is the shade for you!

Heatwave is a bright orange red semi-matte lipstick and is a knockout shade specially for those with warm skin tones. The packaging of NARS lipsticks is very classy. Its small, its black and has NARS written on the lipstick cap. What I don't like is that the tube is made of a rubbery substance that is prone to catch dust and grime.

Coming to the color, this red is so gorgeous that it instantly brightens up the face and will look good on practically everyone. Scarlet Ibis comes very very close to Heatwave so if you already have SE, you can skip this but if you don't, do give Heatwave a shot. I personally love matte lipsticks but hate the ones that dry out my lips. Tough combo to find but NARS has nailed it with this semi-matte formula!. What I love most about the lipstick is how it feels on my lips. Just glides on without any pulling or tugging and is absolutely weightless. The lipstick is not drying at all but rather moisturises and conditions with wear. There is no issue with bleeding or transfer and the wear time is also impressive. Lasts for about 5 hours on me and leaves a faint stain on fading.

I love this shade and would totally recommend to everyone. Intensely pigmented, gives full coverage, does not dry out lips and looks awesome. You don't really need a lot of makeup when you are wearing this shade. Go light on the face, apply lots of mascara, maybe a thin line of kohl or eye liner and a couple of swipes of Heatwave. Killer!

NARS lipsticks are available at strawberrynet.com. I purchased Heatwave for Rs 1654. Unfortunately, its out of stock at strawberrynet right now :(
