Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist Burgandy Burn - Review, Swatch

Can you believe that I've had this gloss for nearly six months now and it is only a few days back that I 're-discovered' it! Yup and the reason is my new found love for lip gloss which surprisingly is still going strong after three months. Now the name of this gloss is ridiculous and I honestly don't know what Lakme was thinking when they named it Burgandy Burn! I thought I had bought a piece which had a typo but I checked online and yes that is the name so I can't alter the spelling. Also, the color is far removed from burgundy. Thankfully, the name is the only weird thing about this gloss.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Luminous Lip Gloss in Red Door Red - Review, Swatches

Lip gloss and me haven't really been the best of friends. I much prefer its sibling, the lipstick and that all of you know so well. I don't really dislike wearing lip gloss but its so difficult to find a formula that's non-sticky, gives great color pay off and also lasts more than 30 minutes on the lips. I had read rave reviews of the new Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Luminous Lip Gloss range and since the holiday season was coming and I wanted something red and shiny for my lips, ordered the shade Red Door Red from strawberrynet. The price is Rs 1283 but you can get up to 10% discount if you are a frequent buyer.

Here's what EA has to say about this new range of lip gloss.

Beautiful Color fuses with care. Multidimensional, moisture rich formula provides lips with long-wearing, vibrant color and brilliant shine. Infused with mango and shea butters to condition and help lock in moisture, and Maxi-Lip™ to plump the appearance of lips. Packaged conveniently with built-in mirror for on-the-go application.
Clinically and dermatologist tested.

The packaging is very luxe. It's gold and features Elizabeth Arden's iconic Red Door symbol and the best part is that it's got a mirror embedded on one side. The applicator is a flat felt-tip wand that allows for a decent amount of gloss to be deposited on the lips. No dipping into the tube many times to get the desired amount.

Red Door Red is a gorgeous vibrant kick-ass red color. This is so pigmented that its hard to imagine that its a gloss and not liquid lipstick.  The gloss faintly smells of vanilla and I'm very impressed by the texture. Its silky smooth, slightly thick, non-sticky, and has the most lustrous shine. The gloss feels more like a hydrating lip balm while still looking like a lip gloss.

In terms of staying power, it's like most others. Not more than a couple of hours but I tend to lick off lip gloss so it might stay on longer on other lips. One thing this gloss does is that rubs off on the teeth so be a bit careful there. Also I would recommend lining your lips first before applying the gloss to get a neat finish.

Overall, Red Door Red has all the qualities one would look for in a lip gloss. Its pricey but EA is a luxury brand. Do check out these glosses when you are at a counter next. If it has made a non-gloss lover like me sing praises, you will love too.

Maybelline New York Color Sensational Shine Gloss Stellar Berry 360 - Review, Pics, Swatches

Guest Post by Tejinder

Hi lovely ladies

I am not a big fan of lip gloss but numerous positive reviews have tempted me to check out at least one of these Maybelline New York Color Sensational Shine glosses. I went to Boots and bought the shade Stellar Berry, a very pretty purple with pink undertone. It is a lovely creamy gloss that gives luscious shine and sensational color to the lips.

Why You Will Love It:

1. Sophisticated color and shine from pure pigments

2. Luxurious feel from nourishing honey nectar

3. With Color Sensational Gloss achieve high-definition colour with sensational shine

4. Maybelline’s most luscious feel in a gloss, giving lustrous shine and rich colour coverage

5. 12 stunning shades

For Best Results:

Use the wand to apply lip gloss starting with the centre of your upper lip. Work from the centre to outer edges of your lips, following the contour of your mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip.

My Thoughts:

Stellar Berry is a very pretty and gorgeous purple/pink with just the right amount of shimmer that is more evident in the tube than on the lips. It is not sticky at all but stays only 2 hours on my lips leaving an even purplish kind of stain after fading. It does not dry out the lips, goes opaque in 1 swipe and gives a sheer finish. The quality of these products is amazing and choice of colours really impressive. The rich pigmented purplish gloss instantly brightens up my face & mood.

Packaging:  The glosses come in a square tube packaging with a silver cap which may look simple but who cares about packaging if product is awesome. It comes with a slanted sponge tip applicator that helps in precise application of the product. The shade name and number is mentioned at the bottom of the tube on the sticker. The smell of the gloss is lovely and fruity which I love but it may bother some ladies who are not too fond of fruity smells. It fades away after sometime though.

Texture: It is thick and creamy but not slippery. It is a very pretty and wearable colour for all skin tones. Gives decent shine, feels very light and makes my lips look really healthy and plump. In short, the formula is very comfortable and moisturizing.

Pigmentation: They are superbly pigmented as 1 swipe gives good coverage. It is non-sticky and glides smoothly on application.

Staying Power: It does not stay for more than 2 hours but I don’t mind reapplying. After all how much can we expect from a gloss?

Price/availability: £6.19 from Boots/Amazon UK/Superdrug
