Oriflame The ONE Illuskin Foundation – Review + Swatches of all shades

In October, Oriflame launched The One, a new range of color cosmetics and this month’s products include the Illuskin foundation, Concealer, Volume Blast mascara and the Eyeliner Stylo – a sharp liner with a firm felt tip end. I’ve already spoken about the two shades of the Eyeliner Stylo in an earlier post. Today, it’s the turn of the Illuskin Foundation.

An evening at the movies wearing the new Oriflame The ONE Eyeliner Stylo in Blue

Hiya lovely people. How did you spend your weekend? I watched Annabelle Sunday evening and I had a lot of fun! I'm a huge fan of horror films and this was on my agenda for a long time and I finally managed to watch it. Can't say I loved it too much though. It was scary yes and the image of the doll will probably haunt my dreams for a couple of days but I expected a lot more spooks. It was kinda 'thanda' for me. Have you guys seen it? What did you think?

Makeup today was very basic. I just wore a La Roche Posay BB cream that I had bought in Paris, a tinted lip balm and the new Oriflame The ONE Eyeliner Stylo in the shade Blue, a very dark navy blue that looks almost black on the lids. Oriflame recently launched The ONE range of color cosmetics and the October launches include :
  • The ONE Illuskin Foundation SPF 20- Rs.799/-
  • The ONE Illuskin Concealer – Rs. 349/-
  • The ONE Volume Blast Mascara– Rs. 529/-
  • The ONE Eyeliner Stylo– Rs.499/-

Oriflame Optimals Skin Care Range - Review

Today's post is going to be all about skin care products from a brand that I am quite fond of. Oriflame had sent me their Optimals range of cleanser, toner, day and night cream about three weeks back and I'm all set to share my thoughts.

Oriflame Optimals Skincare Range

I thought of doing mini reviews of all the products together instead of dissecting them one by one in separate posts. I must tell you that this post is a combined effort of my mom and myself. She has been using the day and night cream and I'm using the cleanser and toner so you will get to know from both of us whether these products work. Ideally, the range should be used together to see the effect but I did not want to experiment with my current day and night creams so mom is happily trying them out on herself.

Oriflame Skin Dream BB Cream in Medium - Review, Swatch

The latest entry in the ever expanding BB cream market is Oriflame's Skin Dream BB Cream, a 5-in-1 beauty balm that :
  • Covers imperfections
  • Give all day hydration
  • Is oil-free
  • Has SPF 30
  • And gives an instant glow
Oriflame Skin Dream BB Cream in Medium

I was sent the Skin Dream BB cream in the shade medium (they have light as well) and I have been really enjoying using it during the day. The cream is contained within a small tube of 30 ml and because of its size, I can take it along with me anywhere in my bag or clutch. The packaging is simple yet chic and I like it.

Light would have been horrendous on me but Medium on my NC43 skin tone is a good match. When I apply it first, it does look kinda grey but after blending well, the color matches my skin tone perfectly. The texture of the product is slightly thick and it does not spread evenly on the face so you do need to make an effort in blending well. What I like about the BB cream is that it gives pretty decent coverage. Don't expect it to work like a foundation or a concealer so it does not really hide all blemishes and imperfections. But if you are looking for a product that gives medium coverage and is light on the skin, this is great. Also, the cream is oil-free so there is no shiny film on top of the skin.

I never wear foundation to work because I don't want to look too made up in office so BB creams have always been my preference. This one currently is my favorite because when I wear this it does not look as if I've worn makeup yet it gives me decent coverage and lasts for quite sometime, about 4-5 hours. Another area where Oriflame's Skin Dream BB cream scores for me is in the moisturising department. For a dry skin gal who is always looking out for products that hydrates without making the skin look greasy, this one is definitely a dream. And it also has SPF!

The cream also claims to give an instant glow which honestly I've not seen but I definitely agree to the other claims of the product being oil-free, moisturising and giving medium coverage. Perfect when you want something on the skin yet want it to look natural. The price at Rs 599 for 30 ml is definitely expensive but Oriflame keeps having these offers every month so do check out if this is available at a lower price.

Oriflame Volume Build Mascara - Review

Oriflame is a brand that I am very fond of. I've been using their products for ages specially the skincare products, body lotions, shower gels and fragrances and I have always found them to be of very good quality. They also have a large range of makeup products with new launches coming out every month. One of the new launches is the Volume Build Mascara, priced at Rs 449 for 8ml  and that's what I've been wearing pretty regularly since the last three weeks.

I like the packaging of the mascara. It's bright purple and pink and looks girly and fun. Minor gripe - the lettering kinda gets lost in the color though and you have to look at it for a few seconds to figure out the brand and what's written on the tube.

Inside, the wand is designed very well. The bristles are broader at the outer section and narrow on top which helps the product to come out of the tube smoothly and coat each individual lash. The consistency of the mascara is just right. It's not runny nor very thick and goopy so you don't have to deal with very heavy lashes. I don't like the strong smell but thankfully the mascara does not irritate my eyes or make them watery.

The whole of 2013 I pretty much used just one mascara, L'Oreal's Volume Million Lashes and repurchased it twice. Oriflame's Volume Build mascara came in just when my favorite got over and I really don't find much difference between the two (Oriflame is cheaper). The Volume Build mascara does make my lashes look longer and thicker and because of the consistency, I can apply as many coats as I want to without looking like a raccoon.

Here, I've used three coats on my lashes and you can see how long and thick they look. Tiny bit of clumping present but its not bothersome and pretty hard to make out. I like that the mascara dries up fast so you can layer it up. It stays on for nearly 5-6 hours without flaking and my trusted Johnson's Baby Oil takes it off easily. I don't need to struggle to take it off as is the case with most waterproof mascaras.

At Rs 449, this mascara is super. It's a great product and really works. Check it out if you want to buy a decently priced mascara to give your lashes length and volume. Only hitch is that you have to get hold of an Oriflame representative to buy it.

Oriflame Studio Artist Cream Blushes Soft Peach and Pink Glow - Review, Swatches

Oriflame Studio Artist cream blushes are the current rage and after trying them out, I know why there are rave reviews everywhere. I've always shied away from cream blushes because they can be really difficult to blend and that's where the Oriflame product scores majorly. These are not really like the traditional cream blushes but a cross between a watery stain and cream blush. That's what makes the blush blend well and give a very pretty and healthy flush to the cheeks.

Oriflame Studio Artist Cream Blushes Soft Peach and Pink Glow

I love the packaging of the product. It's not in a pan but in a tube which makes it easy to carry around. Besides, the transparent packaging allows for the color to show through and it looks so pretty!. Like I said earlier, the texture and consistency of the blush is really good. It feels light and non-greasy and gives a very natural look.

I have the shades Soft Peach, a really light peach which will go very well with fair to medium skin tones and Pink Glow, which is my favorite. On my complexion, Soft Peach hardly shows up but if you are fair then this can be a lovely everyday blush for you. Pink Glow is a more vibrant pink and even though it looks quite bright in the tube, once blended, it's a very pretty pink that will work well on all skin tones. If you want, you can wear it on your lips as well for a light wash of color during the day. I do that pretty regularly and love how it looks.  The best part about the blushes is that the color is buildable so you can wear it sheer or layer it on for more color. The staying power is around four to five hours and it does not get patchy over time. To make the blush last longer, I sometimes use it as a base and pat on some powder blush. You can try that too. I have normal to dry skin so I like the dewy finish it gives. If you have oily or combination skin, these should not be a problem for you because of its slightly watery texture.

I wore Pink Glow on Christmas and unfortunately the camera didn't quite pick up the blush color properly. Can you still make out the light pink cheeks??

The Oriflame Studio Artist cream blushes are available through Oriflame reps for Rs 549 for 20 ml and it is a pretty good buy. Even if you are a non-cream blush lover, these I'm sure will get a lot of love from you. The shades, texture, consistency and pigmentation has won me over. The only con I see is the staying power and I wish these lasted a few hours more. Other than that, no complains at all. I love this formula!

Oriflame Very Me Nail Graffiti Base Coat and Top Coat - Review, NOTD

This post was originally meant to be a review of the new Maybelline BB cream stick but then I tried out a product in the morning and liked it so much that I just had to share it with all of you! BB cream stick, as much as I love you, you gotta wait till tomorrow :)..

Crackle nail paints were all the rage in 2012 and there were a lot of brands who came out with these polishes at pretty high prices. I didn't jump on the bandwagon then coz I just did not like the colors that were coming out. They were either either black or blue as far as I can remember and I wasn't interested. Thankfully Oriflame has come out with some 'crackling' colors in the March catalog and they priced them so well that I just had to buy a few. There are three shades of Base Coat - Gold, Fuchsia, Silver and three shades of the Top Coat to give the crackle effect - the customary Black and Blue and a pretty Pink. Me being the pink lover, got the silver base coat and the pink top coat. Both of these are priced at Rs 198 each, but for March these are available at Rs 149 each.

The polishes are pretty good and I'm really liking them. The formula is slightly thick but they apply pretty well. No streakiness or patchiness and one coat is enough to make it opaque. I applied two though. The top coat starts to crackle immediately and its a pretty uniform crackle effect. No streaking here as well. What I also loved about these polishes is that they dried up in an instant. I went to take a bath just after 5 mins of applying the polish and nothing smudged or came off. Me highly impressed and would recommend you to try one of these on your nails. Great product at a very affordable price!

Have you tried crackle nail polishes?
